Mark Oil Company is excited to announce a successful pivot into the next generation of energy enterprise, marking five generations of entrepreneurship. After several years of development, Mark Oil, with the encouragement of third-generation local c-store operator Chad Earp, unveiled the fastest EV chargers in the Charlotte area to local commuters.
Mark Oil Company, headquartered in uptown Charlotte, partnered with Earp's of Mint Hill more than 50 years ago to build Earp's retail stores at BP branded gas stations. Since 1908, Mark Oil Company has maintained a reputation for agility as consumer demands change. President Bill Tome credits local store operators, including Chad Earp and his late father Johnny, for supporting the ingenuity that allows local small businesses to compete with large c-store chains.
In November, Mark Oil Company began installing ABB E-Mobility's A400 All-In-One chargers at our BP fueling sites throughout the Charlotte-Metro area. President Bill Tome, along with his sons Matt and Will, announced the completion of the first installation at Earp's located at 10950 Woodland Beaver Road, Charlotte.
Mark Oil Company has continuously evolved to serve the community's energy needs. The original family business began by providing heating coal and oil. In the seventies, under the second generation of family ownership, Mark Oil entered the transportation industry by offering gasoline. In the early nineties, Bill Tome joined the company, shifting focus to C-Store and self-serve fueling forecourts. The focus sharpened on delivering high-quality gas and diesel products and maintaining a clean, welcoming store environment.
With the rise of electric vehicles, the Tome family is now committed to providing efficient and convenient charging options. These charging stations are strategically located near customers' homes, workplaces, or along their daily commute, focusing on high-frequency neighborhood sites.
The Earp's site, at the corner of Hwy 51 and Albemarle Rd. (10950 Woodland Beaver Road, Charlotte), became fully operational for Charlotte / Mint Hill customers on November 13. This is the first of 18 chargers planned for deployment around Charlotte's I-485 commuter loop, aiming to make EV charging as simple and accessible as traditional fueling.
